​At Cutie Pie Shih Tzus, we pour a tremendous amount of time and energy into raising our puppies. Our care begins long before birth; we tend to the mother’s health and nutrition intently to ensure a safe, comfortable delivery for her and the best start for the babies. We are right there helping with the delivery and making sure every pup gets the nutrition they need to thrive.

​We believe that every puppy deserves a loving, sustainable home. Unlike some breeders who might overlook grooming or personal care, we raise our dogs indoors as part of the family. We prioritize socialization and emotional health; our puppies are highly intuitive and bond deeply with people. Because we invest so much in preparing them for their forever homes—including getting them used to their new names and providing video updates—we do not offer "cheap" or free puppies. We are looking for dedicated owners who are ready to spoil these little ones as much as we do.

Health, Genetics, and Breed Quality

​We specialize in Red Shih Tzus, but because our lines carry a rich variety of colors over many generations, we cannot guarantee a specific coat color. You will commonly see light reds, dark reds, and grizzles, and occasionally tricolors, bicolors, or chocolates (livers) with "Dobey" markings.

​Structure and Health

​Breeding for Health: While the father comes from a line of champions, our main goal is healthy pets. We specifically select for slightly longer noses in our females to help prevent stenotic nares (pinched nostrils), though the "snub nose" is a natural trait of the breed.

​Parasite Prevention: We treat for worms and parasites starting two weeks before birth and every two weeks after. However, because puppies explore with their mouths, they can still pick up parasites from grass or insects after they leave us.

​Umbilical Hernias: These can sometimes occur if a mother pulls too hard on the cord during delivery. We do our best to assist, but they are a common, minor occurrence in the breed.

​Transition Period: We believe 7 to 9 weeks is the ideal age for a puppy to go home. At this age, they are most adaptable and the move is less stressful for their intuitive little souls.

​Communication and Social Media

​We love staying in touch with our Shih Tzu families and seeing pictures of the babies as they grow! I prefer text messaging over phone calls for the fastest response (I spent way too much time on the phone as a teen!).
